Original 1960s TV advert for Citroën DS (by citroenactive)

I like cars but not enough for me to start posting ads that are more than 50 years old up on my space.

But this particular ad for a Citroen DS during the 1960’s has a sweet sweet rhythm signature and equally cool horn section.

Questlove - “Goodbye Isaac”

Hiyo folks.  Long time no see.

Here’s a beat that I’m sure has not gone around that much.

A tribute to Isaac Hayes by Questlove.

Everything fits so well and although the beat goes on, it could forever play on I would be fine.

Enjoy

I am constantly in awe at how much this man can do and give.

Will be looking forward to this that’s for sure.

Anonymous asked: I don't like you. You seem to put Jack up on a pedestal and claim he is better and more important than every one he works with. Extraordinarily untrue and very annoying.

I’m very sorry if that is what I seem to pervey.
I merely wished to sing his praises and I sing quite loudly about it.

I don’t think that jack is better than any of the musicians that he has or is working with. They are all to their own and are individually brilliant. Most of the attention is put on jack whether it be by me or people of similar thoughts. Unfortunately, I cannot help it. Jack is an inspiration that has led me by the hand through my musical career. I play the guitar because of him, I sing the type of songs because of him and now I am embarking on a journey through university and other projects because of what he has done, his philosophies, his words and what he represents.

I am ignorant for not taking as much interest in the other band members he works with but frankly, I cannot share the same sentiments with the likes of Jack Lawrence, Dean Fertita, Alison Mosshart, Patrick Keeler and Brendan Benson. I do not have the spiritual, emotional, musical or even a historical connection to them. All I see is Jack White and also a select few.

So apologies for my biased approach and delivery.

Thanks for voicing your concerns.

Fat Jon - How you feel

I’m not certain whether the album cover is the correct one but it is either from “Impression” or from “Departure”.

Left feeling philosophical about the whole situation and you need more?

This is definitely my favourite beat ever.  It is understated, simple, subtle yet powerful, thought inducing and dare I say it, almost like a drug.

I am yet to find any beat better than this.

Please enjoy

A sorrowful and heart-wrenching beat that to me, sounds like a goodbye that never wanted to be said in the first place.

I always find myself far away into the distance and deep in thought whenever I encounter this.

Hope it is the same for you good people as well.

Really early on I posted a bunch of Fat Jon stuff.

I am re-posting these as I believe that they did not get a fair look-in.

Fat Jon collaborated with Nujabes and also worked on Samurai Champloo.

Fat Jon’s style is more abstract than Nujabes’ style.  This does bring out some interesting textures and tone colours and also some interesting beats.

Nujabes - Lyrical Terrorists - Hydeout Productions Collection 1

Time for some shameless swag with Substantial and L-Universe.

This is hard hitting Nujabes.

That’s all folks

Well that’s the long journey ended.  Hope you learnt something along the way or discovered a truth that you’ll carry from now on.

I covered my holy 3, Dan Auerbach, Jack White and Alex Turner with a few extraordinary people to assist them in this crazy world of theirs.

Danger Mouse, Alison Mosshart, Josh Homme all play a crucial part in this web that connects them all.  It’s like the mentioned six have this little empire of theirs while having their own little empires beneath them.

It is a world that fascinates me and I can only hope one day, I’ll be a strand that contributes to their ever-reaching web, no matter how big or small, I’ll be a part of it someday, somehow…

So what now?

When Jack White was busy with The White Stripes, he created vinyl that contained songs which he never released en-masse to the public.  Instead he stuffed it down some refurbished furniture and hoping one day, someone will find it, like hidden treasure.

I also like finding treasure…

Stay tuned
